Harrow school - test in year 7? do not know results till when?

Present school of DS is till 11.
DS wants to go to Harrow, and the test in Year 7 ( if he passes ISEB in year 6).

I have 1 questions.

Q1. What to do for year 7/8 - could we put him for year 7/8 into a grammar school or state school?

Q. 2 Also, if we are applying to 11+ schools private schools. His first choice is Harrow, does it mean , is it a risk not to take the 11+ take ( private school) and wait for Harrow test in Year 7 (state school)?

You move him to a prep school that goes to 13 either now or for year 7. I would apply for 13+ places at other senior schools as well. How you will prepare for year 7 or year CE type exam when at state school?
