Harris Beckenham or Eden Park for child with ASD

DS is in year 6, has ASD (Aspergers) but no EHCP. Harris Beckenham and Eden Park look like being our only two realistic options (unfortunately too far away from Langley) so I'm hoping for some advice from people with experience of either school.

Harris Beckenham - is the reputation for not being good with SEN true?

Eden Park - I'm worried about the extended day, DS can barely cope with the primary school day. Do absolutely all the students do the extended day, or is there any flexibility?

Also, if there's a great school that I've not thought of, I'd love suggestions!

I'd speak to the Sencos at the two schools to see how they envisage supporting your son. You could also speak to the current Senco as they might be familiar with how SEN is handled at those schools.

If Eden park is on the same model as Ravensbourne (they were site sharing until recently and are in the same trust), then the extended day is not compulsory. I signed ds up for two days of the extended day per week, but it wasn’t for him and he stopped going after about 3 weeks. Much prefers working under his own steam at home.

So is worth checking how firmly they push it as I thought it was mandatory at Ravensbourne but in practice it wasn’t.

Thank you Janleverton that's really useful to know. The Eden Park website makes it look as though the extended day's mandatory but maybe it's the same as Ravensbourne. I'll definitely check.

JoJoSM2 I'm planning to speak to the various SENCOs, but I'm also really interested to know what parents with experience of the schools think.
