My son did a BTEC/1&2 and got a mark of M2. he also did a CNAT/1&2 and got a D1. Does anyone know what GCSE Grades these equate to?

We are in Wales so GCSEs still get the A, B, C grades etc.

Any help much appreciated :)

A M2 is a B grade equivalent and a D1 is a D grade equivalent.

Isn't D (distinction) higher than an M (merit)? I thought it went d1/d2/m2/m1/p2/p1 with a P being a pass.

Yes, but a D1 means a Level 1 distinction and an M2 means a Level 2 Merit.

So it goes

*2
D2
M2
P2
D1
M1
P1

From highest to lowest.
