Art A level result - how do we query?

Hi - can anyone help. My DD was marked by her teacher over the 2 year course as an A - A. & her final piece A. She did everything she could to get an A as she wants to study art. She kept checking with the head of department if her work was A standard & got 'yes' everytime.
Anyway the mark came back as a B which she's really disappointed with. The teacher & department head are away at the moment but the exam officer is being really unhelpful- she's saying that because its Art the whole cohort would need to be reviewed - is this correct? Any mumsnet art teviewing A lèvels or teachers out there?
Thanks in advance

I am not an Art teacher but a parent whose dc took an Art A level subject last year.
The exams officer is partly correct the Art exams are "marked" by an examiner/moderator visiting the sixth form so it's not the same as sending a written paper off for remarking.
However from my dcs experience it's not all about the standard of the final piece. The examiners/moderators also take into account its development i.e. the different stages the student goes through to produce the work and the initial research of the artist, style etc. So to be awarded an A all of those things have to be A standard not just the final piece itself.
Hopefully someone with more expertise will be along later to explain it better.
Has this affected your dds university place? Many courses will still take on students with B grades. My understanding is that Art is assessed differently on degree courses to A level so she should be fine.

I'm sorry your dd is disappointed. The exams officer is correct, for any subject which is internally assessed and then moderated the school can only request a review of moderation which will be for the whole cohort. Most schools will avoid this as there is the chance other students could be adversely affected. Your dd should have had her unmoderated mark before it was submitted to the board. Was that grade an A/A*?

MagentaKitty yes she was marked as a high level A - I've now heard from the teacher & I'm even more puzzled as she's saying that our DD was expected to get at least an A.
She tells me that there were 4 components to the final marks which DD already knew - & acknowledges that our DD did everything they suggested & was marked A - A* in all of her work. She did so much prep & research etc.
I know how I sound but she really deserved that A!
Is there really nothing else that we can do?
