Scientific calculator recommendations

Hi,

DD needs a scientific calculator for when she starts secondary school. Has anyone got any recommendations? Do I need a £40 one or will a £10 one do.

Will I regret buying cheap because she will need to upgrade it or buy expensive, but then she might lose it!

Decisions decisions!

Why can't they sell them at the uniform shop?!!

check with the school they usually like everyone to have the same one to make it easier to show them how to work things out using it.
Mine have all had Casio ones as that is what the school have specified.

We were told what type to buy on the uniform list. I think it's an 85-gtx or some such. That way if everyone has the same I guess it's easier for the teacher to show them where the functions are.

I helped someone with some a level revision recently as was amazed at what the calculators do for them these days - no working out test statistics from scratch!

Casio fx85 - £10 or so off Amazon. Will last till GCSE.

Thank you!

That Casio one looks good.

I will double check the school letter just to make sure there isn't a preference.

Our school provides a Casio in class but we have a WHSmith one for at home.

For the start any brand that says for gcse is fine, it may not last 5 years so no point buying an a level compatible one! They are available for £12 in asda

Our new secondary school (starting in Sept) recommends the Casio FX85 (solar & battery powered - the FX83 is just battery powered)
It replaces the FX85 PLUS
