Best place for school shoes - adult size ten

Always bought from Clarke's in the past but now notice they just fall apart or look scruffy very early on ..... any idea where the best place to buy is?

I'm guessing a size ten is only going to be in adult ranges.

(Never tried them, personally, though, as DS2's Clark's ones have lasted very well and DD - who wore Kickers from year 7-11 - just about kept her hideously expensive pair of Office brogues wearable all through two years of 6th form).

Depends on the fit you need. DS has size 12s, but is very tall and skinny and his feet are not wide, so makes like M&S are too wide and heavy. We get a make called Red Tape from TK Maxx. They last well and are cheap for leather.

DS is a 10 and needs wide fit. He wears DMs now, and they are lasting beautifully. And if you buy them from a safety shoe supplier, they are vastly cheaper too - £60 as opposed to £120

Second Doc Martens. Only school shoes I have purchased for DS which hold up well and don’t fall apart after 6 months.

Teacher and parent here. Be really careful with 'back to school' ranges as they often go for trend and do not always fit the 'acceptable school shoes' policy of the school. Pain in the backside but it saves a costly load of hassle in September. Some schools have a blanket ban on DMs, others specify 'black, polishable'.

I had placed an order with Office this morning as saw some in the sale, will see how we get on with these but I think treads will be my next option. The m&s ones look quite good too.

Will never go back to Clarks again - they are simply trading on what they used to be re school shoes.

Ooh CMOTDibbler - those DMs have steel capped toes! Are they allowed in school? (I work in an institutional organisation and we’re not allowed to buy them due to the damage they can do to other people...)

No way would steel toecaps be allowed in a school.

Ds is size 11 with very broad feet, this year he has had M & S shoes that come in extra wide fit with velcro ( ds has dyspraxia & cant tie laces) they have lasted longer than Clark's shoes & were a bit cheaper.
