Worried about boys' secondary in salisbury

I've fallen in love with salisbury and would love to live there. However, am concerned about the whole secondary situation if my boy didn't get into the grammar. Other boys who are bright but didn't quite make the grade must go somewhere though right? Where do they go? Happy for my son to travel every day if that's what others do but surely catchment areas rule that out? Thanks for advice

There are only 160 boys who get into grammar. So I'm imagining that there are lots of boys in south Wiltshire that must go to other schools (state and private).

That's what I keep thinking! Although private isn't an option for us...

Friend's DC goes to Downton and they seem to rate it.
