Y10 how much homework

How much homework does your Y10 child get?

DSS barely gets any. none last week and so far none this week and thats not unusual.

He not, not doing it as he'd get detentions but they just don't seem to set any or its forgotten.

For examl last week he thought he had maths then when he went online the teacher hadn't set it. Still hasn't.

I'm getting very concerned. I suggested last night that he practice what he'd been doing in maths yesterday and he obviously didn't want to. I don't think 15 year olds are that self motivated and I feel like he needs homework set by the teachers.

Should I be worried or is this normal?

He finishes school at 3:20 so not doing it there.

My ds is in yr9 and hardly gets any. We were told to expect up to 2 hrs a night in yr10 so I’m waiting to see.
I’ll be worried too if he’s not getting any and would be urging him to do revision and extra work too.

My DS is in year 10 and gets quite a lot of homework. There are the "little and often" subjects of French and maths where twice a week is normal. Then there is the heavy content type subjects like history where he gets a couple of weeks to do a bigger essay type piece of homework. I would say he probably has on average 5 hours a week or more. End of year exams just finished so most homework has been around revision and hard to differentiate between what was set homework and what was exam revising. school puts it all on the VLE so he (and I) can see what he has and when it needs to be done by. DS is incredibly disorganised so this is really helpful.

DS has very little either, though he tells me that homework is often to finish the task set in the lesson, and he's already finished it in the lesson.

I do think there is some expectation to use "homework" time to consolidate knowledge/update notes/revise, but persuading DS anything over the bare minimum is required has not happened yet!
On the other hand, I don't see the point of setting homework for the sake of it.

My DD is timetabled approx. 9 hours a week, but rarely gets that.
She sometimes spends 2-3 hours a night and other nights gets none. They changed the system this year and I don't think it is working!

When DS was Y10 he usually had a couple of hours a night, although there was some flexibility on hand in times for some subjects, so could leave some until the weekend if he wanted.

Both at indies if that makes any difference.
