Claremont Fan school advice

Can anyone kindly offer updated views on Claremont Fan School in Esher? It was never on my radar but after a recent open day I was impressed. It would be good to hear from any current parents. Thanks!

Also interested in hearing anyone's recent experience on this school since the change in headmaster?

I'm not a parent but it's very popular at the moment esp with new head. The academic results are bound to improve. If you have a ds who is unlikely to get an offer at 11plus from St John's / St George’s / Reeds it's a good option. For dd, if you want mixed it's good too.

Thx Gingercat- much appreciated input. That's my feeling also. I understand that historically it's possibly been seen as a bit of a back up school, but truly, I think this should and will change. The grounds are simply glorious - what an environment to go to school in - the main Mansion and other buildings and general setting are charming and it has a very warm and nurturing feel to it. All the kids we met and talked with were articulate, bright and most of all happy, with only positive things to say about the school. Yes, it's not a Hampton or Reeds, (both of which we are very interested in) but our visit to CFC has really challenged what I thought my perception of it was. Lovely school.

I'm sure you will get parent feedback but because of its location & middle ground academic intake everyone sitting the age 11 entry has a different agenda, ie back up to St Johns/Reeds or mixed v single sex for Notre Dame/William Perkins, step up from Halliford/Ewell Castle.
The exam date often doesn't clash with other schools so it's 1 to put on the list & when the offer letters arrive at the end of the most exhausting process you will instinctively know where your dc is going to end up.

Thx Gingercat. You make a lot of sense! :)

My DS left there last year so please feel free to DM me if you have any questions. We loved the school and our DS thrived there. In retrospect I wish I'd sent my DD there too but she wanted to go elsewhere....

Thank you so much! I’ll pop you a DM 😊
