Hello, I am considering Orleans Park school as an option for my child. Can anyone tell me their experience with the school please? How is the palliative care, the head, other kids, general experience? Any feedback very welcome.

Do you mean pastoral care?

dontrollover · 12/06/2019 15:03

Blimey, let's hope so. But then schools are being asked to do more and more these days 🤔

😂

They very generously open up the school at the weekends for the chess playing fraternity of South West London for which I am very grateful!

MidLifeCrisis you clearly don't understand modern school economics and the necessity of raising copious amounts of extra cash through external lettings! 🙂The fees for that chess club are high for a reason.

OP, I know lots of kids that go to OP, and their parents are very happy with it. It's catchment has shrunk in recent years, so if anything its intake is become more leafy, if that's what you're after (friend said they noticed a difference in the mix of kids between their eldest starting and now their youngest 3 years later).

Whoops!! sorry yes i did mean pastoral care. My mind was on two different people.
Thank you for your feedback.

I don't have DC there but I know quite a few who are there/have been there. It's got a good reputation. All the DC I know did very well in their GCSEs and then moved onto other 6th forms in the area. One of my DC's friends said that only thing that was bad was the disruption in classes (common problem in some state schools). One of my friend's moved her DC to a private school from there and now regrets it.

Hi, I'm also interested in Orleans Park and would be particularly grateful for any experiences / views from parents of girls, given the 40/60 gender split. Do girls suffer from this imbalance and does the school have strategies for addressing it? We've always wanted a mixed school, but are a bit concerned our quite shy daughter might be a bit dwarfed in such an environment.

Also, can anyone comment on whether the school streams pupils from year 7 or has mixed ability classes?

Many thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have recent views on the school, especially for less academically driven kids do? My daughter has been offered a space for Yr 7 and we need to decide this weekend whether or not to accept.

Did you get any input on your message? What did you decide?

It’s still popular, my niece is on the waiting list at the moment.

Has your niece now been offered a place? We are hoping for grey court and wondered whether there is a cross over in catchment.

AuditAngel · 23/04/2023 15:41

Turquoiseturtle3 I haven’t heard yet that she has a place, but her parents are hopeful. Usually the kids from her road get offers from waiting list.

Turquoiseturtle3 · 23/04/2023 17:55

Good luck to her. We are hoping that some people will either be giving up their grey court place or at least be removed from the waiting list if they get a higher preference school. Such a tough wait, argh
