Walthamstow Hall in Sevenoaks - Entrance exams

Hi mum's,

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the format of the entrance tests for W Hall? The school dont supply past or practice papers.

We are looking for some materials to work with to build confidence before the exam and wondered if anyone knows if these tests are standard format/written answers, or multiple choice, more like the Kent test.

Thanks in advance Smile

They are standard format. Written papers for both English and maths.

Ha! I went there years ago! Got in with the 11+ (government paid place for high passes). It's changed a lot since then - I started there in 1976 🥺

Thanks, that's what I suspected but wasn't sure.

Yes things change don't they! Imagine the government funding private education now ....

I think there were quite a few of us 'free place' girls, as Wally Hall was a bit impoverished in those days.

Its just English and Maths I think. My daughter did it a year ago. They also interview

Omg I remember my interview for Walthamstow Hall! it was terrifying!

Thanks everyone. I emailed the school on the off chance they might tell me and they were actually very helpful and replied with this:

Our Year 7 entrance exams are not multiple choice and require written answers. The English paper is a comprehension and a piece of creative writing. The paper in one hour long. The Maths paper, again an hour, is based on KS2 Maths. The questions tend to get more challenging towards the end of our papers; so not all questions are always answered.
