Special consideration

Am curious what effect special consideration actually has on GCSE results. And does it make a difference if it is the schools mistake like the Malvern story in the news or the exam boards mistake like sending the wrong exam paper. Anybody have experience?

I was an exams officer and now work for an exam board. The application will be investigated by the compliance team and if the concern is serious enough extra points will be applied to the cohort once the marking has taken place.

Thank you. I once sat in a university exceptional circumstances meeting and they seemed to award virtually everyone who applied a couple of extra marks regardless of the circumstance which seemed a bit unfair to me i.e. not enough to compensate for some and too much for others.
