triggers, there are different levels of consequence, the lowest is a warning, and it sounds like she might get away with that, as it wasn't intentional and wasn't out of her pocket.

doublechocadooberry · 23/05/2019 10:07

DS was so nervous this am. He really wants to do as well as he did in the mocks. He is hoping poppies doesn't come up.

He was so focused on Eng Lit that he left RS until 10.00pm. So I proceeded to try to run through as much information and impart as many memory aids as I could. On reflection, DS was actually doing press-ups during this, muttering mmm hmmm, yep, I don't know why I didn't stop him and ask him to focus, think I was carried away by panic revising. Lets hope it all consolidated over night.

Willing them all to do well.

myrtleWilson · 23/05/2019 10:12

oh triggers, your poor DD - it must have been eating her up. I hope discretion is applied.

Aqa English lit here - An Inspector Calls and Love poems. DD was very anxious as its an a level choice. She's staying on at her school and her English teacher was delighted when she chose English as she's been a late bloomer in English - always ok but suddenly in year 11 she's really "got it" and is doing really well.

I hope therefore that even if she has a bad day and her results don't match standard of work that the school will still take her on for A - level (part of the reasons we decided to stay at this school for 6th form was the fact that the teachers know her/her potential/her strengths/weaknesses rather than starting anew somewhere else).

I'm basically blathering a lot when TLDR is - she is anxious and I have my fingers crossed!

On the upside an all day meeting I was due to attend has been cancelled so am going to be around to pick her up after the exam..

Ds will be glad to see the end of Blood Brothers today, he's hoping for Tissue as he says nobody else understands it so it would be easy marks for him (which he needs as he's done no revision for English). He struggled with the physics yesterday as they have been almost entirely not taught by supplies.

triggers34 · 23/05/2019 10:21

Thanks for your kind words everyone . 🤞she doesn't get too heavily penalised .

Chuffles · 23/05/2019 10:21

De-lurking to share a little Eng Lit-based light relief I saw on Twitter:

steppemum · 23/05/2019 10:31

I'm impressed you guys know all the poems, I just about know the books, after dragging them out of ds !
All attempts at helping with quotes etc firmly rejected, no idea what he has done for this.

Michaelahpurple · 23/05/2019 11:23

DS is firmly convinced that planning f to do the exert question for his Macbeth meant he didn't need to learn any quotations or character analysis. Same theory for his novel last week. I find this somewhat implausible, but when did a 16 year old boy ever listen to his mother...

Michaelahpurple · 23/05/2019 11:23

Nightmare re phone. Poor creature but yes, why on earth did she say anything? Fingers crossed for her

ILoveYou3000 · 23/05/2019 11:27

DD's response to how did it go? "Bad"

Apparently it was the poetry that tripped her up. She said her mind went blank and she couldn't remember any of them.

doublechocadooberry · 23/05/2019 11:45

Iloveyou I hope your DD did better than she thought. I think the amount of poems is just too much for them. It must be difficult separating the poems and quotes under pressure.

Question on selfishness in Inspector Calls and poetry on war and war photographer.

DS said went ok.

ElephantsEatEggs · 23/05/2019 12:00

@Janleverton re fire alarm, they were told to stay put until they confirmed whether it was real or not. They killed the alarm noise relatively quickly and added 2 minutes onto the end of the exam. It does get marked down that they were interrupted. I told him it all goes in your favour.

Ds will be glad when English lit is over. So will I. No more exams until after half term now, so a break tonight from all revision.

SilentSister · 23/05/2019 12:31

DD said Lit went well. Macbeth character question on Macbeth :-) although she did run out of time and couldn't do a proper conclusion. Unseen poetry was OK. They get 45mins for Macbeth, and 1hr 15mins for Unseen. She didn't have enough time to finish Macbeth, but then had 15 mins spare for the Unseen. Annoyingly they take in Macbeth paper rather than roll the two together. Grrrrr.

Class Civ tomorrow. Another of her ALevels, so she needs to do well. Lots of revision to be done this pm and tomorrow am. Exam is in the afternoon.

AGirlHasNoCake · 23/05/2019 12:31

DS finished eng: Lord of the Flies and war poetry.

Said it went OK but he ran out of time and wrote bullet points for the 8 marker at the end - mainly because he struggled with the poetry, tryng to do a comparison and remember quotes.

Haven't heard from DD.

10 days off now!

MissEyre · 23/05/2019 12:42

Macbeth was last week not today.

War Photographer was the poem, apparently.

MissEyre · 23/05/2019 12:42

On to English lang and the bizarre questions about structure....

triggers34 · 23/05/2019 12:43

Dd has texted me from a science lesson 🤔 .

She is very happy with the English lit exam her fave poem - war photographer came up. Thankfully not charge of the light brigade.

No more exams till after half term .

Hope everyone else's dcs are ok

OddBoots · 23/05/2019 12:46

DD had Romeo and Juliet and Conflict poems today and from Twitter it looks like the theme for the poems was Marcy, I am not sure how DD will have done with that and I won't know how she feels until this evening.

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 13:01

Anyone know how edexcel eng lit went?

myrtleWilson · 23/05/2019 13:11

DD relieves and pleased. Had some timing issues. Did the Sheila question for An Inspector Calls and happy enough with the poems (love and relationships)

OP posts:
steppemum · 23/05/2019 13:19

ds fed up, didn't go as he had hoped. Well, it is done now, not an important one for next year. (his worst subject actually)

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 13:31

Can't find any info on the edexcel questions...grrr

pikapikachu · 23/05/2019 13:32

What poem came up for love and relationships?

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 13:33

Thats what I want to know 😁

WeirdOne · 23/05/2019 13:37

Winter Swans
Romantic love comparison
DS used Letters from Yorkshire
