When will I ever learn ....to shut up !!

pikapikachu · 22/05/2019 21:01

Dd has 16 to go. (Ends Monday 17th)

chocolateworshipper · 22/05/2019 21:03

DD will be half way through after tomorrow. Last exam 14th June.

Powergower · 22/05/2019 21:09

Ds said physics was ok. He's dreading English lit but it's an a level choice so a lot of pressure being felt. This has been stressing him for weeks so I'll be glad when it's done. Good luck to everyone... nearly Friday guys!

Bimkom · 22/05/2019 21:34

Yes will be very glad to have English Lit over. Always been one of his weakest subjects, but having the first exam going well for him has boosted his confidence i think. I hope they are not going to make it super hard tomorrow to make up. He is really hoping it is not Tissue. Or Poppies. He is a bit gutted that last year's Poppies paper was leaked, as that would mean it wouldn't be on this year.

Rugbylife · 22/05/2019 21:35

Ds has no more now until Tues 4th June, only 4 to go!

Luciaia · 23/05/2019 07:10

Good luck to everyone today! Dd ‘absolutely shitting herself’

loveonthewall · 23/05/2019 07:14

I was regaled with quotes from Jekyll and Inspector last night, from the lad who can't stand Eng Lit. He got an 8 on his mock and both he and his teacher were stumped as to how he pulled it off. I think notwithstanding his dislike for it, he knows it's valuable points in the bag for 6th form entry so has revised hard. Having a lit loving girlfriend has helped that too I think. Good luck all!

readyforsunshine · 23/05/2019 07:15

No more Eng lit after today! Lord of the flies, which she didn’t mind so much as the others. She’s never been a reader so eng lit is NOT a popular lesson.

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 07:18

Eng lit
Ds will be very glad to over!

Greeborising · 23/05/2019 07:22

I’m beginning to feel the enthusiasm has worn off 🙄
Usually dd is up at dawns crack, coiled and ready to go
This morning she has just appeared, pulling on clothes, with hair like a birds nest, asking for bacon & scrambled egg.
She assures me it’s “all under control “
We shall see............

OddBoots · 23/05/2019 07:40

Sorry if someone has already posted this and I have missed it but the new Informed choices website is up to replace the booklet for the Russell Group.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 23/05/2019 07:53

DS also unenthusiastic about Eng Lit but I found him revising as soon as he got home from physics yesterday, so at least he's engaged. He's also hoping Tissue doesn't come up (I rather like it!)

Can't wait for half term! Then only 4 to go after that - the end is in sight.

behindlocknumbernine · 23/05/2019 07:57

ready oh no, that's a shame for your dd. Hope dhorse is sound soon!
Dpony is a 14.3 connie x, he is an absolute sod so we call him pony rather than horse as we don't want him to get ideas above his station.
He's a scatterbrained donkey and not at all a competition pony (goes to pieces in any unfamiliar setting, was an abuse case and has the scars to prove it) but dd was looking forward to long summer hacks. Plus, at the livery yard she works as a groom there is a lovely lady who had just asked dd to start jumping and then competing, her gorgeous horse. Dd was thrilled at the opportunity (this lady does not let anyone near her horse normally so it was a true honor) and dd is gutted her painful hip won't let her.

Ho hum.

Back to exams. Dd still in bed. This does not bode well. Energy and motivation have well and truly deserted her after a week of - in her words - shitty papers.

readyforsunshine · 23/05/2019 08:03

Gree bacon was requested here too, it has magic qualities for befuddled students as well as hangover victims!
Behind I hope your dd will recover in time for her to get back out & benefit from the lovely offer. Love a Connie, dd has just moved on from hers as she got too tall.

Went to investigate an annoying noise
Turns out to be an alarm in dd’s Bedroom on her old phone.
When I turned it off the screen lit up with a message, it said
“You lazy bastard” 😂

triggers34 · 23/05/2019 08:54

Good luck to everyone today.
Dd woke me up in tears last night, apparently she accidentally had her phone in her pocket during the Geography exam. after I'd stressed the importance of not doing that , that morning She realised after the exam and felt so guilty that she told a teacher. It's been referred to the exam board. She is so upset - geography was a possible A level choice but worst case I guess is she gets no marks?

Why on earth did she tell them 😳

Greeborising · 23/05/2019 08:56

Oh blimey triggers
Hopefully they will be sympathetic as she bravely confessed

grauduroi · 23/05/2019 08:56

AQA lit (inspector calls) and poetry here as well. DS is also hoping Tissue or Chekin out me history don't come up. He is following Mr Salles advice of treating like a marathon and just keep slogging away at it Smile

Good luck to everyone sitting exams today.

triggers oh your poor dd!

gree aren't our kids hilarious!?

Ds has love and relationship poems - hes hoping somnet 43 and I wannabe yours come up. Then J&H which he hates.

He seemed quite nervous this morning.

He went in early to go to English dept and some last minute revision/advice.

triggers34 · 23/05/2019 09:40

SOURSPROUT it's the first cohort at dds school to do gcse s they had no choice but to report . There must be 100s of students who accidentally do this and breathe a sigh of relief that it didn't ring during the exam.
I've emailed the school to see if they know what will happen re lost marks and whether we have grounds to appeal if the paper scores a zero. I guess there's nothing else I can do but wait.

Gree 🤣** lazy bastard!

SilentSister · 23/05/2019 09:49

triggers Bless her. She must be so conflicted about it, that she held on to tell you during nighttime. She did the right thing morally, which she should receive lots of support for, but I hope she doesn't get too heavily penalized for doing the right thing.

steppemum · 23/05/2019 10:01

Oh triggers what a nightmare.

don't think ds did anything for eng lit last night Hmm

Business and DT tomorrow (2 on a Friday!)

that will make it half way, and 3 subjects finished, 7 subjects still going.

I'm planning some fun over half term (enforced if necessary Grin
