Welcome all - just went to post on thread 2 and saw it was at 999 so quickly did this

OP posts:
Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 13:38

Doesn't sound familiar...was that edexcel?

pikapikachu · 23/05/2019 13:57

Aqa

pikapikachu · 23/05/2019 13:58

Dd knew that one well so hopefully it went ok.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 23/05/2019 14:41

My DS did "an Inspector calls" and "conflict poems", not sure which exam board ?!

D0ubleTheJoy · 23/05/2019 15:00

We are half way through, hurray!!

behindlocknumbernine · 23/05/2019 15:41

Oh triggers, your poor, honest dd.

Dd was very despondent after English Lit today.
Shame, as paper 1 went so well and it is an A level choice for her.
She said it was ok, but no better than ok and she does not think she will get above 5 for both papers combined now. She's really quite fed up.

Onwards and upwards, she has to go in to school tomorrow (but does not have an exam) and then it is half term.

16 papers left to go after half term. I feel for them, this seems like torture compared to when ds did his 4 years ago and breezed through...

ElephantsEatEggs · 23/05/2019 15:51

The AQA unseen poetry was The Richest Poor Man in the Valley by Lindsay MacRae but I cannot find it online. If anyone has a link for it I would be most grateful. The comparison poem was Nobody by Michael Laskey.

ElephantsEatEggs · 23/05/2019 15:58

I have found the poem on Tes.com.

chocolateworshipper · 23/05/2019 16:01

DD managed to miss the unseen poetry question - just didn't see it. Luckily English Lit isn't one of her target subjects, so she wasn't stressed about it. 9 more exams for her - all after half term. She's definitely going to need the break.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 23/05/2019 16:02

DS very cheerful about English lit

He liked the unseen poem of the richest poor man, as it was a poem that made sense to him. Whether his interpretation fits with the mark scheme, time will tell!

And one question was exactly one they had practised in class this week, so that's lucky

He needs luck as English is his weakest subject!

SolitudeAtAltitude · 23/05/2019 16:04

chocolateworshipper, was it aqa?

I get confused on this thread and think DS has missed something, and then find he did a different exam to people on here Grin

Hope that's the case for your dd?

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 16:09

Ds had unseen poetry sonnet 43 so he was pleased.

Also got a question on fear in J&H so I think he was quite pleased.

chocolateworshipper · 23/05/2019 16:21

solitude No it was Edexcel. She came out of the exam and people were talking about the question on the unseen poetry, and her response was "what question?" Part of me feels frustrated, but part of me is proud of her for not getting stressed about it! So long as she doesn't do the same thing in one of her target subjects (we are only aiming for 5 passes), then it's fine.

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 16:22

Ds2 is done for half term as he has an inset day tomorrow so ds1 will be walking to school....he won't be pleased!

Ds1 is having a night off tonight (and tomorrow which is usual for a Friday)

He has 2 days of revision classes at school next week and then will be volunteering one day too.

I'm dreading week 3 😩

Itsagrandoldteam · 23/05/2019 16:27

My DS just said one of the kids fell asleep in the English lit exam today, and they missed at least half of the poetry exam. Shock

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 16:28

2hrs 15 is a lot if you've been up late studying

DeRigueurMortis · 23/05/2019 16:36

So given this was the one we were dreading it seems to have gone ok (AQA English Lit).

He did the Sheila question for Inspecter Calls (which he'd done quite a bit of prep for in case it cake up).

The War Photograper wasn't one of the ones he wanted but neither was it one of the ones he really hopped he wouldn't get.

The unseen poetry also went ok and said given he usually gets stuck on what to write managed to write 3 pages and got in (he thinks) some good points on structure.

So hopefully that's pulled him back a bit from the disaster we had with paper one 🤞

Economics tomorrow and then a much needed half term.

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 16:52

Sorry it was she walked in beauty, not sonnet 43!

KittyMcKitty · 23/05/2019 16:55

Ds did AQA

AIC did the Sheila question and v happy with it.

Love and Relationships - Given Wild Swans and compared it to Sonnet 29 - v happy with this.

Unseen ran out of time a bit on the last question- the 8 marker.

Overall fairly happy.

bizzey · 23/05/2019 17:01

Well I got "fine" for English lit abd RS WJEC
was confusing and everyone said so .

KittyMcKitty · 23/05/2019 17:02

^ winter not wild

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 17:02

Ds ran out of time on the last q too

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 17:02

Ds ran out of time on the last q too

bizzey · 23/05/2019 17:03

Itsagrandoldteam ..did they wake him up ??

KittyMcKitty · 23/05/2019 17:18

Iambuffy ds said quite a few people did but it was only 8 marks and he’s always struggled with time on paper 2 so fingers crossed 🤞
