Hi, just wanted to get some advice I’m looking to move to Beckenham from north London and was wondering what the likelyhood of getting into the Langley Park Secondary schools would be living around Eden Park Avenue?

I don’t know what that distance is but the school admissions booklet says last distance admitted was 1.3 to 1.4 for the girls school and 1 mike for the boys school in the last few years.

Are you looking at the boys or the girls school or both? I know parents with girls there at the moment and they are quite unhappy about the new head. I don’t think this affects the boys school.,

Thanks, that’s helpful to know Petts wood paradise. The nearest school is actually Harris Academy Beckenham. The school is outstanding on Ofsted. Is that generally a good school ti do you know?

I don’t know that Harris school but the Harris schools in general have a reputation for off rolling pupils who won’t be good for their league table stats, a FOI about a year ago showed the statistical fact behind that.

I know parents with children at Harris, they all seem very happy. I know parents with children at Langley boys, they too are very happy. I would visit as the ethos is different at both. The range of extra curricular at Langley is phenomenal, in sport, drama, music, etc. The music department is amazing and performances are often at/above university standard. It's which school is right for your child, both seem very good options. Catchment for Langley is quite small.
