Historical Waiting List Data?

Does anyone know if waiting list data for previous years is available online anywhere? 🤔

We've had to relocate due to work so late secondary application. Currently 3rd on the waiting list for our preferred (wildly oversubscribed) school nearby (but thankfully have a place at a fairly decent school further afield). Would be useful to see what sort of movement there was waiting list wise in previous years to get a better idea of how likely (or not!) a place might be before September --and before I spend a fortune ordering uniform.

Also, am I right in thinking we'll likely get bumped down the waiting list once appeals have been heard?

In general waiting list data for previous years is not available online. If you want information I would suggest asking the school involved.

You will not get bumped down the waiting list after appeals. The appeal panel cannot change the order of the waiting list. However, if there are successful appeals the school doesn't have to admit anyone from the waiting list until they are back down to PAN. So you will still be 3rd on the waiting list after appeals but if, say, 4 appeals are successful you won't be offered a place until 7 pupils have left.

We live in an urban area with lots of waiting list movement between schools. I asked our local authority admissions office for the last distances admitted prior to 1st September for the last 3 years, where distance was the entry criteria (ie not siblings etc). In any of those years my DC would comfortably have got a place at our preferred school, but as things stand we are still a very long way down the waiting list.

My point I think is - and I'm sure you're all-too aware of this already - previous years are no more than a guide, although I completely understand the desire to get hold of as much information as possible!

Also, worth considering that demand for places is going up year on year, as the recent baby boomers are now getting to secondary school age. So there are more children in the mix for places, even more so for the very sought after school, I would have thought. So previous years' figures aren't necessarily entirely helpful.

Thanks all.

Yes, agree it's probably not a great indication really. I think it's just my inner control freak wanting more stuff to analyse Grin

I have actually put in an appeal for the school now, after reading a few threads on here (so informative!). Our grounds for appeal are flimsy to non-existent but nothing to lose...
