Can anyone offer any personal experience of this school, particularly around how much pressure is placed on pupils to succeed academically.
Many thanks in advance

Fantastic place - no pressure at all.

The pressure will be on to get a place though!

Thanks for replying lurkylou. DD is having coaching at the moment but have heard some reports that there is alot of academic pressure at WCH ie if you're not in the tops sets, you don't figure?? I'm not sure that that type of environment would suit dd. Have option of Trinity too...

No knowledge of Trinity but a friend's daughter goes to WCH and she loves it.

Good Luck

trinity is the best thing since sliced bread!!!! providing you have your priest's reference. Does good for kids whether they are near geniuses or if they have some difficulties (know from experience)

It is nice to know youngest DD can enjoy her last year or so of primary school without the pressure of 11+ knowing that she has a good school to go to

Pimmpom · 19/07/2007 18:00

Only know how difficult it is to get a place at WCH.

Friend has a ds and dd at Trinity and is very happy with it. Nice that you have that option as well

Thanks for your replies. DD is bright although whether bright enough for WCH is another thing as you've rightly pointed out, the competition for places is fierce We're in a neighbouring parish to Trinity, so not 1st in line for a place. I'm active in our church though so the priest's reference should be fine.
I am just hesitant about WCH if the pressure for academic success is great as I'm not sure dd would enjoy that...decisions decisions!!!

we are in similar position DD could get a place at wchs with some test practice but really don't need to try as trinity has done a fantastic job with older DC's. Each child has their own targets to achieve so there isn't the competitive pressure.

Neighbouring parishes still okay for trinity they normally get to at least the fifth or sixth parish on the list

dayofftomorrow,
That's really encouraging to hear your expereince of Trinity. I also have ds to consider in a couple of years and my gut feeling is that it would be great if they were at school together...they grow up so quickly though, it was actually quite emotional at the school gate today.
