Applying for a different school

Hi, after much discussion Iv decided I don’t want to send Dd to the local secondary school and would rather send her to a Christian school a few towns away. You have to apply with a letter from the vicar which won’t be a problem.

Worried as obviously secondary places are already out! Has anyone done this?

If it's popular there's no chance really, most good schools have a waiting list. We did all our referrals months ago at work and not all got in

I might aswell try, her dad went to the same school and her grandma is a vicar so fingers crossed 😂

PP is right; if it's a good school it is almost certainly oversubscribed with a waiting list at this stage.

Would be worth looking at their admissions criteria. I'm afraid I can't imagine that having a parent attend the school 30+ years ago, nor a vicar as a grandparent, would see you whizz to the top of a waiting list above much more local children who presumably have a letter from a vicar too...

I would contact the school on Monday and ask them what your chances are, whether they're full, how long their waiting list is, etc. At this late date I suspect you won't have any luck, particularly as your DD has already been allocated with a school place that (I assume?) you have accepted.

Assuming this is not an independent school, her father going to the same school and her grandma being a vicar won't make any difference to her chances of getting a place. If it is a few towns away your daughter will only get a place if it is undersubscribed. If there is a waiting list she will be a long way down it assuming they use distance as a tie breaker. Even if you had included this as one of your original choices your chances of getting a place would have been minimal.

I dont think you can make a new application until September anyway.

The OP can make a new application any time she wants.
