Longer school shirts for taller boys? (6' 2")

DS is 15 and 6' 2", currently wearing M&S size 15-16 school shirts (short sleeved), which don't stay tucked in as they're too short, but otherwise fit ok. The "next sizes up" seems to involve increases in collar or chest sizes, but not necessarily length.

Does anywhere do longer shirts for taller boys?

My ds is in Sixth Form and it was amazing how much better standard men shirts fit compared to school shirts. He's in Sixth Form and wears Primark white mens shirts.
£5/£6 for a white shirt if I recall correctly?

Mumof1andacat · 25/03/2019 23:13

I would say get some men's white shirts

cantkeepawayforever · 25/03/2019 23:16

You want M&S Longer Length school shirts

However, they are online only, and often out of stock - and obviously only come in long sleeves.

DelphiniumBlue · 25/03/2019 23:17

M& s do a 2" longer shirt in their men's range.

cantkeepawayforever · 25/03/2019 23:18

Oh, they do do short sleeve ones - but the stock situation is even worse.

AuntieStella · 25/03/2019 23:23

Asda men's shirts

MNSDKHheroines · 26/03/2019 09:38

cantkeepaway thanks those short sleeve ones are exactly what DS needs.

CMOTDibbler · 26/03/2019 09:44

My ds needs longer length shirts, but in sky blue. He's only 12, so currently just has to wear shirts that are too big so that they still tuck in, but he has a massive gap round the collar

tentythirty · 26/03/2019 09:59

Thanks all. If only M&S would introduce an "Email me when back in stock" feature like John Lewis has!

M&S long line in skinny fit are what DS has, but they are often hard to get hold of..

CMOTDibbler · 26/03/2019 11:40

If only M&S stocked extra long and long school trousers to the stock levels they need! The response of 'yes, they are very popular' to the fact that age 15/16 is always sold out isn't really acceptable in the era of manufacture on demand

Dramatical · 26/03/2019 11:44

Men's shirts are longer.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 26/03/2019 14:04

My boys were in men’s by age 13, as they needed them for the length. M&S are our go to too.

SnowdropsiUnderTrees · 26/03/2019 22:12

Following with interest. My 12 yr old is 5ft 11 and is out of school uniform sizes. I am wondering where to get trousers from. He is very very skinny.

cantkeepawayforever · 26/03/2019 22:22

Snowdrops,

Very skinny + very tall is a real problem in trousers (DS could really do with 26" waist / 36" inside leg, but they aren't really out there).

I would recommend Topman and Burton for trousers.

These in 28 XL were the best we found but they are out of stock (as always)

AJPTaylor · 29/03/2019 21:33

Not sure about school stuff but 2tall.com are very good

cantkeepawayforever · 30/03/2019 20:37

However, they start with 30" waist.... that extra 4" of fabric round the middle is the difference between well-fitting and looking like you are about to lose your trousers (or have to pull in the waist with a belt and suffer the interesting 'bottom balloon' effect).

ittakes2 · 31/03/2019 06:26

M&S big and tall section sell longer shirts too.

Zoflorabore · 31/03/2019 06:35

My ds has just turned 16 and is 6ft 2 and I've been buying men's shirts from M and S for a few years now.
Ds only wears short sleeves all year round and likes a slim fit so I find M and S brilliant for this.
I pay £27 for a pack of 3 shirts and he has a fresh one on every day so lots of washing of them and still good as new.
He stopped fitting in the kids ones years ago and I've tried many brands but find these ones by far the best.

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/03/2019 06:40

@SnowdropsiUnderTrees for my tall silly on we but M&S slim fit trousers an age size down and get the extra long length. He's still a 26 in waste and they are the best we've had. Don't know what we'll do if he gets taller with no increase in waist size.

fluffyhamster · 31/03/2019 16:20

DS1 (6ft 4) had men's extra slim fit and longer length men's shirts from age 15. Places like Charles Tyrwhitt are good if you get them in the sale and the quality is so much better - they look really smart and hold their shape!

Zoflorabore · 31/03/2019 16:59

Ds is 36W 34L which seems easy to find. Black.
It must be a nightmare looking for small waists, we've been at the other end of the spectrum when ds was much larger as he's lost over 5st.
His feet have been a size 14 since the age of 14 but since losing weight he has gone down to a 13. The difference in availability in that one size is amazing.

Maladicta · 31/03/2019 18:52

Mens M&S slim fit shirts do the job for my ds
