Sexey’s School Bruton

Hi, we’re thinking of sending our child to Sexeys in Bruton. There is a new Head Teacher? I really liked the school when we visited despite being Ofsteded as ‘requires improvements ‘. Does anyone have kids at this school or know of anyone with kids there who are boarding? Thanks for any helpful comments.

I know someone who is removing her son as not happy with it. Her son is quite sporty so it may be lacking in that area.
My son is starting Kings in September.

I know lots of boarding mums at Sexey’s and their kids love it. The sports is great (the netballers win county) and I know that most of them think that it’s the best time to be in a school as it’s improving the ofsted points. New head of boarding seems to go down well too. Hope this helped x

Two of my children go to Sexeys. Both are very happy there. We’re really impressed with the new head and all the changes that she’s making. The vast majority of the parents we know are really happy with the school too.

Thanks Lemondrizzle, great to hear that. Do they get lots of sports, hockey, netball tennis etc.

I just saw this on a Facebook page but to be fair a lot of parents coming to the school's defence. This happened to a school close to us which had previously been outstanding.

Thanks Salsamummy

Yes they do a lot of sport, my two don’t but others do.
We’re personally not worried about the Ofsted report. The head has been implementing lots of changes, particularly this year since the report so I’m sure it will improve at the next inspection.
The GSCE grades are amongst the best in Somerset and my two are really settled there so we’re happy.

Thanks Lemondrizzle, the Head teacher seems enthusiastic and totally committed to improving some things. I think Parents get too het up about Ofsted! I really like the school so still considering it as an option.

Totally agree with you. I have personal experience of other schools with better Ofsted reports which IMO are no where near as good as Sexeys.

Apologies as it Looks like i am replying a year too late! I sent my daughter there As a boarder in Sep 2017 pulled her out by the Christmas as the bullying was rife, the safeguarding and running of the boarding house was shocking. Not what one wants to hear but this was our experience. My daughter admits she would have happily went as a day pupil.
