Any recent experience with 11+ entry at Cranleigh Prep?

Because of increasing competition for places in our local day schools, we’ve decided to have a boarding option as a ‘back-up’ for our son.

Cranleigh would be the perfect fit. However if we were lucky enough to get a place at one of our more local schools, then they would always be our preference, and I’d always choose ‘day’ over ‘boarding’.

There’s a potential hitch however! Cranleigh’s admissions statement states that testing at 11+ will take place either in the November or January prior to entry.

Should the testing be in November, I’m guessing we’d receive an offer and therefore a deadline for acceptance, before my son will have taken the tests at the local schools which all happen in Jan/Feb.

Does anyone have any recent experience of this? It would be so helpful to know when Cranleigh send out their offer letters, and how much time they give you to accept/decline a place.

Thanks!

All private schools have entrance exams in November to January/February and then issue offers mid/late February but the deadline is after the state schools issue offers.

So there's no issue whatsoever

Hello, we did the Cranleigh Prep exams this year.

In past years the exams were earlier than some of the others but this year the assessment day was mid-January and we received the letter at the begining of February with an acceptance deadline of Monday 4th March. Hope that helps.

If you want to know anything about the process, feel free to pm me as the entrance exam process is still fairly fresh!
