Does the final grade depend on how everyone in the country scores, does anyone know, or is the grade purely based on how the individual scores?

Yes it is based on performance across the country. There was not usually a massive variation (eg I taught MFL and on the foundation papers, a C grade was always between 27and 30 out of 35.

Trouble is there have been so few sittings of the new GCSEs (none in some cases!) that it's still a bit of a guessing game as to grade boundaries.

But obv your Dc's score depends on how well they do.

Final grade depends on how the country performs as a whole. Still very fluid due to the new GCSE. English and Maths obv most secure having been in place for the longest.

Many thanks, that's helpful. Just trying to encourage revision at moment and it's not easy.
