Grey Cost Waiting list....Please calm me down :)

Hello
Got a letter from Grey Coat and apparently lots of disappointment this year as the number of siblings applying for 2019 was quite high (46 and our category had only 25 places available). My daughter is 6th on the waiting list and just want to know if anyone has experienced this before and whether the waiting list operates at Band or Category level.

Thanks
Me.

Sixth in the waiting list is good! You should get her in!

I would think both ie if a place comes up in Band A, church of England places, it would go to the first girl in Band A, C of E who is waiting.
I'm a bit confused though, I didn't think any categories/bands had 25 places available this year (I was looking last night at the allocations).

Also do you mean 46 siblings in total, or 46 in your category? 46 in total seems low for a school with PAN 167, 46 just in say band A or band C, Church of England places sounds crazy high!

BananaDaiquiri · 04/03/2019 20:41

I've answered my own question from the data: it says 48 sibs in total. Not sure why school are bothering to mention this in their letter. Maybe it's higher than last year but 48/167 is hardly a large number of siblings.

thanks for all the replies. siblings in take was 49 this year and we applied for the 25 open places which are spread out across the 3 bands. Hoping for the best.

Can anyone tell me where to find the stats that you are referring to regarding allocations for this year please? I couldn't find them on the school website. Many thanks.

Polly,

check out the admission policy.....additional places added for the open places and the sibling number came from the letter we got from them.

I got the figures from here (RBKC at the top, Westminster further down, published for 2019 allocations, links to the same document on both RBKC and Westminster councils websites).
Most schools don't publish the stats on their own website (a few do) usually you get the data from the LA (even if the school is an academy etc):

@Mumsd1966today did they tell you if you are 6th for open places, or 6th within your band of the open places? It looks like (from the data I linked to above), they only allocated 23 open places this year (6+11+6). I imagine there will be some movement, but it may not be much with such a small number of open places.

Thanks Banana and OP.
Fingers crossed for your DD, OP.

@bananad
Will be 6th place on the 23 open place waiting list.
