Tiffin boys 2019 entry wait list

Hi! We have just got my son's scores from the Tiffin entrance exam. His combined score is 102. We live in the inner priority area.

The email says that the lowest combined score currently filling the 180th place is 105.

Does anyone have any idea of wait list numbers?
What's the likelihood of my son being made an offer from a wait list? Has he any chance do you think, or should we prepare ourselves for going to a different school?

Thanks!

The Tiffin wait list will move. Lots who have Tiffin offers will be declining to take up a private offer. Do you know where you are on the wait list?

They've said not to call about the wait lists, but that they hope to email that info around Easter holiday time, when people have had chance to accept or decline, I presume.

So I have no idea as yet where he is on any list. His score sounds decent, but presume loads of boys could have scored the same as him at 102, or higher even at 103 and 104?! How do they rank them within these scores? Is it done on distance, or are all within the priority area treated the same?

Hi safari star. I don’t have any specific info on tiffin. Just wanted to say we were in a similar situation last year, DS passed the exams for Sutton grammar and Wallington ( but not Wilson’s). Sutton was very much our 1st choice, but on 1st of March we got offered the second choice school, our local comprehensive . DS started off at position no 28 on the wait list ( IIRC) and by he end of August he was at position no 2. He got a place on day 3 of the 1st term. There is a lot of movement.

whataboutbob Thanks for the reassurance. It's good to know that the wait list can move quite a bit, even if it's quite a bit later before it does. Just got to hope he's not too far down it then! Hoping wouldn't have to wait as long as that though - must be a difficult decision if already started at a different school! Nonetheless, good to hear they keep offering even once the school year has started. Will have to cross that bridge if, as and when it becomes and option! Keeping fingers firmly crossed...

Yes even after just three days at the comp he said he wanted to stay there. A bit of gentle persuasion and he started at the grammar, he hasn’t looked back and loves his school now. I donated all his uniform and PE kit to the school to make myself feel a bit better about moving him out...

Sure the school would have appreciated the donations! Glad it worked out for the best for your son - funny how these things often have a way of working out!

Hi,
Does any one know about Tiffin Boys as our son is on waiting list. His score is 103 and the cut-off score is 106. What are the chances of his admission to Tiffin Boys?
