Reeds vs Hampton

I am in the lucky position for DS to have offers for both. Now finding it difficult to decide. DS is dazzled by perceived higher academic standards of Hampton, I see pastoral care, smaller school at Reeds.
DS is bright, more an introvert, and takes everything to heart.
Anyone got boys at either school? How are they enjoying it? Sufficient academic stretch at Reeds? Pastoral care at Hampton?
And before you lambast me, I know that we are in a lucky position. Decision will have to be made over coming days. Blush

The pastoral care at Hampton is very good and it's a very caring school. Well done to your son on getting a place. Does the sport make a difference? No hockey at Hampton and you have to choose either football or rugby, can't do both. Which do you live nearer to? Is he musical? Will be benefit from the drama links with LEH? Finally how about the fees difference from year 9? You can pm me if you want more Hampton feedback.

Thank you Poppyred. That is so encouraging to hear about Hampton. Fees make a (big) difference, hence my starting position had been Hampton. We are in between the two schools, would use the bus to both, in summer cycling to Reeds would be an option.
DS is sporty, will be a hard choice between rugby and football. He is arty too...
Will look into PM and do that later

The art is amazing at Hampton too. If your ds likes rugby he will get in a team, football is much more popular and harder to get a high ranking team (A-C) place, (many ds choose Hampton for the football over non football schools). Read the first year blog on the What's On section of the website too to see what they get up to. To send me a pm you need to use a computer rather than the MN app.

Hampton is the more academic option. Sport is good at both. Obviously distance is a key factor. If distance doesn’t swing it and you like both equally I’d choose the more academic.

My son had the same choice 7 years ago and we went for Reeds as the fit was better. He needed a more gentle sporty approach. He has done exceptionally well in all areas has a lovely group of friends and is set to go to a top university. Never regretted out decision.

I have a very sensitive boy at Hampton and the pastoral care has been excellent so far.

Thank you all for your reassurance- sounds like to great viable options

Hello OP, just curious, which did you choose on the end and why?
