Advice re second round secondary application and appeals

Hi we didn't get our choice of school for DS and plan to appeal - DS has autism.

However we can also apply for another school within the next two weeks. If you want to keep your place at the offered school you have to include that in the form.

However, do I include our refused school as well? I'm confused because second round of offers isn't out until 5th April but we want to appeal the decision that's just been made.

So can I make a re application and still start our appeal process? And do I still include appeal school in re application?

Sorry I hope that is all clear!

This is an unusual process but basically they are giving you a chance to change your choices. I guess they are hoping that you will name schools that have a place available to make their life easier.

You can appeal for your preferred school whatever you do. As to whether you should include it on your second round application, I would check with them whether you will still be on the waiting list for your preferred school if you don't include it. If it doesn't make any difference to the waiting list it doesn't matter whether or not you include it. But if it does affect the waiting list you need to include it.

Thanks so much prh47bridge.

I thought it was a little unusual, presume not all councils do this?

No, they don't. Most only have one round of allocations, which is what is really supposed to happen. Giving people a chance to change their preferences before the second round is unusual.
