Independent School Around Lichfield

Hi everybody,

I have been considering different options for my little girl's education, and we still haven't figured if we should go private or state. Checking Ofsted I can see there are very good state schools around Lichfield, but I cannot find any other similar rating system for independent schools.

Does anybody know of good private schools around Lichfield I should be considering?

Any opinions about Highclare School, St.Paul's in Sutton? or perhaps Lichfield Cathedral?

Thank you for your help! :)

I can’t offer an opinion of them, the other one that’s around is St Mary’s and St Anne’s in Abbots Bromley, but again no knowledge

You could also look at Stafford Prep School (going on to Stafford Grammar School.) They have buses ferrying children from all corners of the county.
Before you decide phone any you're interested in and go along for a visit. That should help.

The School of S.Mary and S.Anne, as it wss in my day, has been Abbots Bromley School for some time now. It has also gone Co-ed, having accepted boys into the sixth form for a while. Its big 'extra' selling points these days seem to be ballet and the Equestrian Centre, but I don't think it is compulsory to be into dance or horses. Academically, we were a fairly mixed bunch; no idea whether the school has changed in that respect.

(A bunch of us went back for our 40 year reunion last summer. I think the winds still arrive on the S.Mary's side straight off the Urals, but other features were more pleasingly unchangedSmile. The school is much smaller in numbers than formerly, but the students we spoke to seemed happy).

Abbots Bromley is a great school in a lovely setting.

AB is a good school.

Cathedral school is popular and I know a few kids that attend that are really nice kids. The prep might have changed but the last family that enrolled their daughter that I know pulled her out as it was too regimented for her.

Denstone is a good school, the new prep at Smallwood manor is in a lovely building. Don't know anyone with kids that attend.

The Yarlet school is another one, nice people at the front desk but I don't know anymore than that.

Oh, Bishton St. Bedes is the one with the poorer reputation. I know a few families that have children that struggled having left there. No personal experience but it's family run and harks back to the olden days of boarding school IMO. (I once attended a wedding there so not exactly well informed)
