Would anyone be able to confirm the lunch facilities at GCS & MSG, if there are any.

Little at St M - there is a small area where limited hot food is available (mostly pizza I think?) but no seating. Girls carry lunch with them in rucksacks.

I believe there are proper facilities in the 6th Form block. No knowledge of the position at Greycoats I'm afraid.

Good morning Zinnia, thanks for replying. It’s my only concern regarding SMG is the lack of dining facilities and adequate nutritional food.
I am assuming that they’re not allowed out at lunchtime to purchase food from a cafe etc.

I don't believe they are allowed out, no - at least I'd hope not! The lunch facilities/lack thereof were one of a number of factors that put us off the school, for all its (many) undoubted merits. I felt sorry for the girls having to eat in corridors and classrooms all winter and do not want to have to deal with 5 years' worth of packed lunches... having said that, if it were the sole thing I didn't like about the school, it wouldn't stop me accepting a place. There's always a compromise somewhere.

Thanks for your honesty. I hope where ever you chose, your daughter is happy and prospering.

Still no canteen? I thought that was the point of the extension.
As an ex pupil I can say you deal with it. Packed lunches. It's a very good school.

Moonette01 · 16/02/2019 15:49

Hi Tavannach, thanks for your reply - I had no prior knowledge of building an extension. Not havIng a lunch facility is the only negative point that I can find.

My dd goes to St M, and to be honest, it did bother me when she started that there weren't any proper lunch facilities. But it's actually completely fine. Pupils generally take in a packed lunch and eat in their form room. Most of the kids go on to do something else at lunch break anyway, as there's so many clubs on, and in the nice weather they go outside. Sometimes, when we forget to shop for lunch stuff, dd gets something from the canteen - usually a jacket potato and a salad, which is fine.

I left in 2007. The extension I mean is the space under the playground. Apparently they're using it for sports and performance. It is strong on performance.

The Head used to teach English. She was a truly excellent teacher.

The underground sports hall is indeed v impressive. As is the Head! She was the biggest attraction of the school for us, in fact. She seems really inspirational.
