Is anyone else finding the wait for 11 plus results on Friday really difficult?

I know it's only a few days but I have to keep stopping myself calling the schools we're waiting on to see if I can get any clue, or do anything to convince them that they want DS - although they've probably decided already and my getting in touch would only have a negative effect. Has anyone been in touch with schools between interview and results to try and get any info? Am I insane or is anyone else feeling really impatient about it like I am. Just feel like I have no idea of whether his interviews have gone well or not or what to expect in the post.

It can be painful wait - more so for the parents than the kids.

Please don't try to get info.

Start planning a Plan B now so that you know what you will be doing if you fail to get the places you want etc. Wait until the few days before gcses/A levels results!!! It only gets worse.

MotherofPirates · 12/02/2019 11:19

Am finding it very painful but no intention of phoning. Sorry but that is a bit insane! You know they won't tell you anything. We just have to hang on in there now! All the best!

ladygaga01 · 12/02/2019 12:11

Taminini - I am in the same position and internally FREAKING OUT. I can't concentrate at work, etc

Externally: all good. Brew

Maybe distract yourself, plan something nice for the weekend / half term, get theatre tickets, take your DC to the cinema ... I honestly think the only way to keep sane is distraction at the moment. Grin

ajandjjmum · 12/02/2019 12:13

Get a Plan B in place. Helped when we were waiting for the DC's A level results - and gave me a focus, rather than letting my stress affect them! Grin

Taminini · 12/02/2019 12:22

Good to know I'm not alone. The ridiculous thing is we have a good plan b so it's even more crazy how difficult this wait seems. Definitely need some distraction tactics.

Ha! I sympathise with your madness. I've had vague thoughts of excuses on how to get in touch with admissions people (some vaguely legitimate like are you doing exploding offers and when will they explode, some less legitimate like are you going to offer my kid a place)

Whole process makes madsters of us all.

I've found it very hard reading threads with people getting offers as their schools offer earlier than ours. Tarnation.

Bab7love · 12/02/2019 16:16

I find it so hard to wait, I have no nails left. I also find it rather annoying that they inform the prep schools before they inform the parents.

MrsPatmore · 12/02/2019 18:48

The wait is so hard and then a wait after that for the state school results. I came home at lunch time on the Friday the year ds results came out as I just couldn't concentrate. I drove around the block looking for the postman!

enterparentone · 12/02/2019 19:06

Why do they inform prep heads? Do they also inform state school heads?

The wait is awful. Seriously considering offering the postman a bribe to come here first on Friday!!

Poppyred25 · 12/02/2019 19:19

They inform all heads normally in advance so Thursday this week. They inform Prep heads as they have relationships with the Prep schools and the schools can help support dc and parents. They inform state heads out of courtesy and if the dc takes up the place there is a process of passing on information in the summer term (safeguarding as well as other concerns). The state schools heads sometimes let slip on a thursday as with a parent on another thread re LEH last week. The preps rarely do because there will often be more than 1 dc from the class involved. I've been thru this twice with last year being particularity agonising and I did stalk the postman!

GrinGrinGrin

Not a bad idea though?!?

Bondiboo74 · 12/02/2019 20:26

Yes me too. The waiting is almost intolerable. Trying to forget about it and keep myself busy. Hurry up Friday!

enterparentone · 12/02/2019 20:46

Knowing my luck the head would just give me a "look" that would just send me into overdrive trying to work out what it meant so I think I'll avoid him between now and then!!

What do you think works best for bribing postmen (postpeople Grin) ??

PegTheHen · 12/02/2019 22:16

It's hard to wait, but definitely don't phone. You don't want to be 'that parent' before you even start!

Waiting for the postman.....

PatienceVirtue · 15/02/2019 12:17

Our post hasn't come. Luckily the crucial ones have arrived by email. Honestly why wouldn't they do both?
