Good evening,

We have applied for 2 schools, QE BOYS BARNET & WATFORD BOYS for our son. He has scored high to be offered a place at both schools. My question is : Is it really a possibility that he may be offered a place at both schools or only 1 place will be offered? QE Boys is in Barnet borough and Watford is sin Hertfordshire.

Thank you all in advance.

If these are state schools, he may qualify for both, but the offer will be for whichever you put as the higher preference on your application form.

State system you only get one offer.

If they are private you can be offered all or none as they act independently.

That’s correct. Which ever he put first, if he qualifies for a place, he will receive that school. I don’t know much about Watford boys, but certainly with QE, depending on how high his score is, you will be able to pretty much know if he is going to be offered a place.

You receive the allocation via your own LA no matter where the school is based and it will be one offer only.

If you don’t get your top preference (s) you can go on the waiting lists, but do not recline the offer you are given in tne belief that they will then offer you a place at one if your other listed schools: they won’t. All the places will have been allocated.

Accepting a place does not influence your place in a waiting list or an appeal.

If he scored high enough for both schools then he will be offered a place at the one you put highest preference on the form.
