Wondering about feeder preps for Wellington. Obviously Eagle House but are there any others in Surrey / Berkshire that would be a good feeder? Hall Grove maybe? DD is bright, sporty and musical. Also loves drama. I know Wellington is extremely tough to get into and I'm not sure her current prep school has the best connections with it. Can anyone offer any ideas?

Lambrook sends screeds of kids there and they play polo there too!

Thank you Motorcyclemptiness. It's a school me and dh have both considered but it's a little too far from us for a daily commute. Although flexi boarding might be an option in later prep years. Do you know roughly how many a year go from there?
Sadly the only horsey person in the household is me...!

Think about 20 from this year's year 8 - I say think as my DC have left tho I know current parents...HM has defo had close relationship with WC for past 10 years. Lambrook isn't a boarding prep tho; kids just stay the odd night each week but I hear they plan to become more boarding focussed. All you can do is ask your local preps if they feed WC and then see if WC list their feeder preps? Eagle House is v.nice, I gather, as well as being the obvious route to WC?

Yep, you're right. Unfortunately very very few children go from our current prep to WC. Literally just one or two every five years or so. Most tend to go towards the Guildford schools or Hampton, St George's in Weybridge etc. So the current prep doesn't have close links at all with WC. Wellington doesn't appear to list any particular feeders on its site but Eagle House would indeed be the obvious route and, from what you say, Lambrook too. I have heard Hall Grove might also have good links so I'll look into that as it's not too far from where we live. I guess DH and I will need to weigh up our options and decide if a move is the right thing overall for the family. Thank you Motorcyclemptiness, it's been good to get your advice.

Good luck - hope somebody with better knowledge than I comes along to help you soon! Really don't know where HG feeds apart from Harrow but my experience has been nice kids and parents from there...

I thought Wellington had its own prep school - Eagle House.

InterestedInStuff · 17/05/2019 17:18

How did you get on PoloMama? All the prep schools local to Wellington send children to Wellington - Yately Manor, Lambrook, Papplewick, Aldro, Danesfield, Ludgrove. Eagle House does not have the largest number going these days. Nor is it a "feeder" in that the testing is rigorous and competitive and no preference is given to Eagle House students - it's very close by for ease of having one in Prep and one in Senior - and full of Wellington College staff kids. Saying that - the exeats and holidays don't always match up!

Thanks Interested :) We decided to just keep dd at her current prep and let her try for the 3 senior schools she wants to go for (one of which will be WC). She loves where she is and wouldn't hear about moving so it seemed unwise to force the issue. We'll find out in due course which one ends up being the school for her!
