HI
If anyone has children at Bartholomew School in Eynsham I would really appreciate an overview of what you think of the school. Planning to send my 11 year old there in September and am concerned about whether he will fit in and do well there. Any insight to the school would be massively appreciated! We are moving into the area so not only will he need to make new friends but he also wont know anybody.

If you are looking for a school to the west of Oxford it is probably the best choice unless you want to go a lot further into Gloucestershire. Where are you moving to?

The school has always had a good reputation, its results and Progress scores are good, it has quite an advantaged catchment area. The Witney schools are also easy to access from Eynsham so if your son doesn't settle there you have decent options.

But certainly there's no reason to think he won't do well there.

I don't have much to compare it with, but have 2 DCs there. It's a mixed experience. There are plenty of opportunities if you have the kind of DC who wants to take them and a number of teachers who are clearly highly committed and come across to me as good teachers who work really hard and enthuse their pupils- but it's a big school, they won't force opportunities on your DC if they don't want to engage. Communication not always what I would have expected and report style distinctly poor - it's colour coded, but even if your DC gets 'concerns' they don't tell you what the concerns are on the report you have to go ask them (and then you possibly might get a reply). I think it's probably a school doing its best with limited resources and a lot of demand placed on teachers but there is low level disruption - my DD experienced a lot of this in her class last year, and some teachers have a lot of absence. My DC's GCSE in one subject was so badly taught that he is effectively doing the GCSE in one year. The new teacher is working very hard and can't be faulted for that but I had no idea of the situation until the new teacher arrived.

Hi @Chocolate999 did you ever get any replies to your question? I'm also looking for some feedback on the SEN support.
