Does anyone know the reason why this admissions route for Yr 5 state school applicants will no longer be available after this years applications.

I have zero knowledge on this.

I would speculate it is so they can compare and choose everyone at the same time against the same criteria, and also to simplify the process so people don't need to second guess whether it is 'easier' to get in by applying in y5 instead of y6.
