St Dunstan's College admission 2019 - Anyone had invites for 11+ interviews?

Anyone got any updates on this year admission process? How many will be offered an interview? Getting a bit nervous as i've been told that St D is getting so much more selective than before...

Not heard anything yet. Was wondering when they would start sending out emails.
Anyone else heard back yet?

gambaspilpil · 13/01/2019 10:08

My DD goes to St D and her brother was offered a place last year. They changed the testing last year and moved to the online test which proved a challenge for some and I am fairly sure it is similar to the tests that they use at Eton and places like that. The school has changed a lot since my DD started in 2014 and the headmaster has made a lot of changes since he has been their for the better I may add. As for interviews they took ages last year to send the emails out for interview. Not sure if that was due to the new online testing! It felt like an age. With my DD we got a letter within 48hrs so hopefully you won’t have to wait long if they have sorted out from last year! Good luck

Anyone heard yet??

biligrite · 14/01/2019 14:51

Nothing... it’s so stressful!!

I haven't heard one way or the other.

turboturtle · 14/01/2019 22:01

St D were terrible last year. Just as gambaspilpi said, they took a long time to send out any correspondence. My friend received an email for an interview for her DD on Friday after 6pm for an interview on Monday morning. She had to call her boss at home to arrange the time off.
I hope they do better this year

milkmaid1510 · 15/01/2019 13:10

I read somewhere that the interviews are held between:

Mon 21 Jan - Fri 25 Jan.

They also wrote that sports scholarships are held the week before, so this week, and the academic scholarship is held the Saturday before, so this coming Saturday.

N66sl · 15/01/2019 13:40

I’ve had emails about sports scholarship attendance on Friday but nothing re interview dates.

milkmaid1510 · 15/01/2019 13:42

N66sl - great! Sports scholarships are only offered if they pass the exam, so you should get an interview letter.

N66sl · 15/01/2019 13:50

Ah great that’s good then. Also just received one for drama on Saturday. I was just expecting the interview letter so you knew if you’d passed to come first!

biligrite · 15/01/2019 14:02

That’s great news N66sl! Still you would have expected to receive an interview confirmation first or at least at the same time. Does that mean that they will only be sending letters for interviews and not emails??

Btw - when I say letter, then I mean either letter or email. We got emails for my DS a couple of years ago. So keep your eyes open on your emails and your physical letterbox to be sure.

turboturtle · 15/01/2019 14:16

biligrite, You would expect to have received confirmation of passing the exam first, but as I said earlier in this thread, they were quite terrible last year.
You would expect that the test results are instant considering that it's an online test.
My friend received an email rather than a letter. Her DD was also up for a music scholarship

milkmaid1510 · 15/01/2019 14:23

St D is trying to be more conscious about using paper, so they generally send email communications.

MumOfLL · 15/01/2019 16:22

Hi, DS just received the email invited for academic scholarship next Saturday (26th). It said "Sent by email only", so I guess no letter confirmation?

very excited, may I assumed that it means DS would be offered a place at least, if not scholarship? Hmm Grin

Petran · 16/01/2019 11:26

I just got an email confirmation get a ‘general interview’ - where they are in groups whilst the Parents meet the Head.
Is this indicative of anything, or are they all group sessions??

milkmaid1510 · 16/01/2019 11:45

They are all group interviews at St. D.

Petran · 16/01/2019 11:55

Ah ok - thanks Milk

MWMmummy · 16/01/2019 11:55

Congratulations to those who have interviews! We are still waiting...

If it is a "thanks but no thanks" - would it come by email or letter, does anyone know?

Meanwhile I guess no news is good news.

WellTidy · 16/01/2019 12:01

We are still waiting too MWM, I would expect to hear by email one way or the other. Congrats to all those through to the next stage.

MWMmummy · 16/01/2019 12:38

Just got email invite interview next week so hopefully this means things are moving along for everyone.

WellTidy · 16/01/2019 12:49

Wonderful news MWM. We haven't heard either way. I am having trouble concentrating on anything but my inbox at the moment!

WellTidy · 16/01/2019 14:16

Just heard that DS has an interview. I've been quite nervously checking my inbox since 11ish this morning when the offers of interviews were being received by others! Better get some work done now, I suppose!

Petran · 16/01/2019 14:31

Yay WT - you can relax for a week : )

WellTidy · 16/01/2019 14:46

thanks Petran. Indeed, it has seemed like a long wait, but it has only been a week, which is nothing! Eltham's 11+ assessment was on 4th Jan, and we still haven't heard either way. I hope your child gets through the next stage.
