Did anyone hear from Dulwich? The exam was on Monday, wondering when they send the letters for interview?

Not heard either!

AnotherNewt · 11/01/2019 18:15

Dulwich telephone as well as sending the written version. Phone call often (usually? always?) precedes the letter

They're fairly prompt, but I don't know when it'll happen this year. Calls may be made in the evenings (school has a boarding component, and a core of staff work well into the evenings).

BTW: if your boy starts this September, then he'll catch the final term of the 400th anniversary commemoration.

We got a callback last night for a Monday interview - they said we’d get the letter confirming tomorrow (Sat). Assumed it was an early call bcs our surname is near the front of the alphabet!

Bab7love · 12/01/2019 12:25

Didn’t receive a phone call, but delighted to say received a letter this morning saying Ds is invited for an interview next Friday.

faw2009 · 12/01/2019 12:49

Many congratulations to you both! No letter here - post erratic :(

Bondiboo74 · 12/01/2019 15:25

Letter for interview arrived here this morning too. We weren’t expecting it so it was a lovely surprise!

faw2009 · 12/01/2019 16:20

Ahhh, well done to your son. Unfortunately the post did arrive but Dulwich said no. Luckily didn't have our hearts set on it! Wishing you all good luck with your interviews.

Bab7love · 12/01/2019 17:13

Sorry to hear faw2009. Hope your ds gets an offer from a school that he will be very happy at. Best of luck.

We got a letter this morning for an interview next week! (no phone, mind) Thrilled for my son. Good luck to all those being interviewed next week

Bab7love · 13/01/2019 08:23

Does your letters mention anything about scholarship? Is there such thing as scholarship and general interviews?

OP posts:
Bondiboo74 · 14/01/2019 18:04

Greenpeas how did the interview go?

JCDaddy · 14/01/2019 20:07

We got a call today for interview tomorrow. Very impressive with the speed.

Bondiboo74 · 14/01/2019 20:22

Congrats JCDaddy. We are there tomorrow afternoon

turboturtle · 14/01/2019 20:40

Congrats Bondiboo74. Does that mean you have interviews at T and Dulwich? Impressive.
Certainly a good sign if he's done well enough to get interviews at both. Which school is closer to you?

Bondiboo74 · 14/01/2019 20:47

Thanks turtle. Interviews at Dulwich, Trinity and Whitgift! My DS has amazed us all!

Bondiboo74 · 14/01/2019 20:48

Oh and T is closest to us but DH is ex Dulwich

JCDaddy · 14/01/2019 20:53

Thanks Bondiboo74, we will be there in the morning. Good luck to all!

GreenPeas · 14/01/2019 21:07

Hello Bondiboo74 - it went really smoothly, thanks. DS was nervous but very quickly reassured by the students helping out. It was as described - discussion around a text and some general questions. Now fingers crossed!
Good luck to all those going in this week!!

Bondiboo74 · 14/01/2019 21:14

Thanks GreenPeas. Glad it went well. Yes, definitely fingers crossed for all!

turboturtle · 14/01/2019 21:52

Bondiboo74, I hope you have the nicest of dilemmas come mid-Feb.
From my experience, any boy that got interviews at 3 were offered all 3. They're all good schools, but have their differences which will suit one boy over another.
Best of luck to you and everyone else on this thread. xx

Bondiboo74 · 15/01/2019 08:24

Thanks turtle. Fingers crossed for everyone

MrsPatmore · 15/01/2019 11:25

Ds had a phone call and had an interview on the first day I think. We have an early alphabet surname. His friend (also same surname) had a letter for a later in the week interview. Both offered places but ds offered good scholarship (we were bursary candidates too). I think they offer the high scoring/bursary candidates the initial interviews (although just speculation here from the people we met on the day).

MrsPatmore · 15/01/2019 11:27

Also, from our school, practically everyone who interviewed was offered a place. I don't think DC over offer by very much so roughly interview as many candidates as they think will accept/have places for.

Bab7love · 21/01/2019 13:23

We had our interview last Friday. I find it so hard to wait for the result. Also my son is completely in love with the school so he will be devasted if doesn’t get in.

TJsAunt · 21/01/2019 13:43

know someone who was on the staff and used to interview at DC - feedback was that they liked trying to guess which candidate was a scholarship possible as they weren't told in advance, so think unlikely that the possible scholarship kids are interviewed in the same batch?

ds is currently at DC (and v happy) - but we do know of kids who were interviewed and never made it past the waiting list. So it isn't as dead cert unfortunately. waiting list movement seems to fluctuate wildly year on year.

best of luck to all
