Help me understand school census data

I'm trying to do some analysis of school census data. I want to work out the numbers of children in each year group at some of my local schools. However, the data is reported in terms of age rather than year group. For example "full time boys aged X" rather than "full time boys in year Y".

From looking at the pattern of the numbers I think I can assume that "age 4" maps to Reception, "age 5" maps to Year 1, etc. If I'm right then the age used is the Sept 1st age rather than the age on the actual date of the census (which I understand is in January). Can anyone confirm this?

If it is correct then there would be a load of 4yos and more or less zero 11 yos. Does that tally?

Yes, that tallies and was my logic too.
