Hi everyone, reaching out to see if anyone has any experience of the above school. Specifically, pastoral care and any insights in to how well parents are helped with secondary school choosing. Wanting to move a Year five boy there this academic year, with the view of moving him on to Emanuel, or Kingston Grammar at 13+. Any thoughts on the compatibility of the prep to secondary choice are welcome too. Huge thanks in advance.

I don't know much about Rokeby other than knowing people who are happy with it but I would have thought that if you're aiming for Emanuel and KGS you would be much better off thinking about doing the 11+. I was at a KGS open day a few weeks ago and the head said they may have 2 or 3 13+ places this year, depending on the numbers that they take at 11 plus. My DCs did 11plus from state schools. Occasionally pupils left to do years 7 and 8 at prep schools but they were not going for the London schools at 13 plus and in most cases had to do pre tests in y6 anyway.

Thank you so much Winter. Your post is very useful. How much were your children tutored to gain 11 plus entry to an Independent London school, from a State School? Thanks in advance.

They had some weekly tutoring but only really in exam technique as they had covered the syllabus at school. I did VR with them as well. I could have probably have done what their tutor did as well, but they listened to him better than me!
Lots of their class got into the SW London independents. Unless there is a major problem with your primary school or you're aiming for boarding schools I wouldn't think there's much benefit to leaving in Y5.

Thanks Winter, your wise words are reassuring. Thank you. My DS currently goes to an Ofstead Outstanding school so with a top up of using a tutor, that may help. If feels overwhelming at this point of time...
