If so, would you mind sharing one thing that has caused teaching to improve please?
I'm in a secondary with poor teaching (according to Ofsted) and we need to improve rapidly.

Stop focusing non activities.
Start focusing on learning and recall.
Design a linked spiral curriculum that's not standalone modules that don't relate. Build knowledge and apply from one topic to the next.

You might want to move this to the staff room topic.

Ofsted must have given you some pointers as to why teaching is poor.

Get rid of any unnecessary junk that isn’t teaching and let teachers focus on what’s actually important.
Good SOWs and resource sharing will help.

Stop focusing non activities - this x100

Look at curriculum and assessment. Have a coherent plan.
Plan lessons around that content rather than activities that look good superficially but don't aid learning (e.g. make a poster on... create a comic strip for). Get good schemes of work that can be used by everyone and adapted.

High expectations in all areas from behaviour to presentation.

Consistency with behaviour and expectations from all staff.

Try to get someone out into high performing schools if possible and then share what you've observed.

Assessment to inform learning for pupils (through planning)- What can they do now? What are the gaps? Why? What do I need to plan next? Pupils must make progress through being challenged

Consistency, consistency, consistency.

Completely agree with the shift from activities to learning and recall.

What is the experience of your staff like?

Ensure SLT support treachers and that CPD is given when needed. SLT should observe lessons and be qualified to know what the weaknesses are and then dudcusss how to address them. They then ensure suitable actions are included in the Improvement Plan and are SMART. Read the Ofsted report and the Improvement Plan then you will see what is envisaged.
