Anybody enlighten me on what this is? DD (yr9) is doing this and has opted to take addiotnal science in yr10. They having been dong GCSE papers (two so far) since Feb/March this year. First was on genes, the next was an 'IDEAS' paper. I have no idea what they are doing and feel like a complete pratt for not knowing. The last I knew was the triple and double awards!
Any info would be really appreciated
thanks

I would look on the exam board's website to find out about the course. If your DD is lucky enough to have a text book and if the textbook is written specifically for the course you should look at it to see what she is covering.
And you can of course wait until one of the MN science teachers tell all!

We don't do this course, so I can't comment on the details.

Just take into account that the schoo may well not do things in the exact order that they list them on the Boards website.

We have moved things around, as the Scheme of work the board suggested wasn't, in our minds, that logical. So we teach all the same stuff, but not in the same order!

thanks, I knew I could rely on you lot. It looks so basic, don't you think? I have just spoken to dd and she tells me the first exam covered the first three parts, yesterdays covered the next three and tomorrows covers the remaining three. I think I'm just a bit shocked as to how much it's changed over the years. At least the additional science should be better next year (I hope).
Thanks again for your replies.

The year 11 stuff is a bit better.

Is triple science like this or is it more traditional

Tripple is just more of the same tbh. They get 3 GCSEs 'worth', do they have to do a third more work. But it is largly just more 'factoid' stuff. It isn't gold standard that is for sure.

Thanks for that, at least she's doing it in yr 9, and therefore will do the additional in yr10 so it should hold her interest a bit more ( I hope)
