Can anyone advise?

One of my children is at a school with a international intake plus some locals. We currently have one of her international friends to stay. Dd asked me whether she could stay for a few days over half term. I’ve had no communication from the school about this stay over. I’ve also had no communication from this child’s parent either. Is this normal or par for the course? I do feel the school should have checked with me at least before allowing this.

so your DD attends a boarding school as a day pupil, and wants a boarding friend to stay over half term?

The friend has arrived although you have had no agreement from the school to say it is OK, nor from her parents?

Would she normally stay in school for half term or go home?

I don't know what normal protocol would be in boarding schools, but I certainly would want something in writing to day the school agreed and it had been cleared with parents. I would also expect the school to need something from you to say that you had agreed, otherwise hte girls could be off anywhere, without anyone knowing where they were.

I was a guardian of a girl at boarding school if she was spending a weekend with a friend from school the girl would ask me “can I stay with X” and then the house parent would email me and ask me to confirm my agreement that she was staying with X. I personally had no contact with the family she was staying with but assumed the house parent had confirmed that they were also happy with the arrangement.

This friend has been here since Friday!
Apparently I’m taking her back tomorrow.
I’m reluctant to say anything as another cousin has applied to the school and his family are waiting to hear. Plus my worry is the two friends have concocted their own messages supposedly coming from family and they might well get into real trouble.
