Comparing results

So I have been doing the rounds of secondary schools and they all present their gcse results in the best light and are apparently all in the top 2 per cent of the country. Clearly this is not possible.

So I need to have a look at results and compare them. Is there a good website for this and what are the best indicators? Is progress 8 key?

search for gcse league tables & type in name of your county?

You want www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk
and, I suggest the breakdowns by high, medium and low achievers (if a school has more high achievers it's likely to get better overall results - that's not particularly impressive imo).

It's also interesting to see what schools use as their "I'm the best" criteria. A school near us used to state that they had the highest A*-C results at GCSE in our town. Delving town, you could see that they achieved this by focussing on the C/D borderline - their proportion of As and Bs was no higher than anywhere else. So if you had a C/D borderline child, this was probably a great school!
