My DD has been given the opportunity to use a laptop in school and if use shown as normal working mode will be taking gcse' using.

Looking for recommendations for lap top - taking into account should be PC using windows 10, fast speed, keyboard should be springy and comfortable, not illuminated, or brighly coloured as a distraction. Also need to consider noise of key strokes and cooling fans.
Voice recognition and ability to record lessons.

Light weight ideally 1.5kg. Thanks in advance

Can't recommend, but I'd also think about fast start up and long battery.
What size screen are you after?

DD1 (dyspraxia) used a laptop from y9 onwards but that was 6 years ago so technology will have moved on. She used one for exams in essay based subjects (including 2 MFLs for the written controlled assessments), but handwrote science and maths.

DD2 tried one but found it more trouble as she had to be organised with it, plus her typing wasn't good and her spelling poor so the spell checker corrected to random words.

Does it need to have windows? We have got a chrome book for our DS, they have them in school so we figured it should be compatible. Also they use google classrooms for homework etc. Not sure if it can do voice recognition though. Anyway quite a bit cheaper than the windows options we looked at and good battery life.
