Response from school (or not!)

How long would you expect it to take for a tutor to reply to an email? AIBU to expect the same day? It's a fee paying school and I am concerned about my son catching up after being off ill.

Would normally expect an acknowledgement within a day but reaction depends on nature of query. If he is ill surely he can't work effectively. Or he asks friends to help him copy notes and homework.

Our policy says 48 hours during the working week and not outside of working hours.

Our school says 2 working days for initial response.
But after being off ill (if just a few days) pupil expected to see teachers themselves or get h/w from peers.

Generally within 48 hours. And I think that's pretty good considering all the stuff they have to get through. Depending on the actual circumstances (i.e. whether he's in a position to do so, I also agree that they may expect your son to talk to them direct).

I teach at a fee paying school, and the expectation is an acknowledgment within 1 working day, then a response depending on what's needed.
Staff often have full teaching days, duties, lunchtime & after school clubs...
