Ealing Fields High School

I would welcome any views on this relatively new school, particularly why it is now under Twyford trust, what went wrong, is it better now, how is discipline enforced and if children feel safe and happy and enjoy learning. How is communication with parents? I am agonizing over my CAF form. Would you put Ealing Fields above The Green school? I would prefer a co-ed school, but only if behavior if kept under control.

Hi - went to the EF open day the other night. In the head's talk I heard lots about discipline, hard work, targets, competition, tests etc but nothing about inspiration, curiosity, research, independent thought or fun. Surely a good school needs to value both of these sets of things?

Bumping this up to ask if anyone has any recent opinions about Ealing Fields? Considering applying to it for my DC.

New buildings are a little behind schedule for next month opening, but does look to be well designed for the available space.
I presume you are looking for September 2021+

Are you within the catchment distance?

This September's allocation figures-
Looked after accepted 2
siblings accepted 32
General applications 337 offers 103
Music places applications 36 offers 12

Furthest offer of a place was 0.637 of a mile from front gate.

Green School is excellent. EF nowhere near.

ripple11 · 16/08/2020 22:11

@MarvelAnne are you likely to be within the approximate catchment distance mentioned above?

MarvelAnn · 29/08/2020 22:54

Yes, so I'm keen to know if anyone can share their experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by Open Day last year!

Sounds like the school has evolved considerably under the Twyford trust. Important to note that it’s the the only Twyford Academies Trust school that is NOT ‘CofE.’

School offers Ethics curriculum (unique to EFHS) which we found very appealing. Seems to define unique ethos/identity of the school. The pupils we spoke to were very engaged and passionate about Ethics.

Looks to be very popular within the local community and new school site looks like it will be state of the art. General impression was that pupils also have lots of opportunities to play sports.

Possible downsides - Main second language offered at the moment is Spanish. (Happened to be what we wanted but was a deal breaker for others.) Also, no sixth form for now though you would have priority for other sixth forms run by the trust.

Ripple11 - where did you find this allocation data please as I’m interested in finding it for some other schools and ‘google’ is not throwing up the answers. Thank you

ripple11 · 04/10/2020 17:44

@KateRose I was sent info "Ealing High School allocations for September 2020" when Ealing offered us high school places for this year.
This info included the allocation stats for every high school in Ealing. I presume this info on the Ealing Council website, but I dont think its easy to find !
If you are looking at a particular Ealing school...I can post the info here, or send me a PM and I can forward a copy of all the schools.
