We are looking to prepare our daughter for Grammar schools and good independent schools (where there are high thresholds in entrance exams). We are based in Woking and like to know if you can share your experiences & recommendations on local tution classes. Any pointers will be helpful.

In my opinion, if kids need tuition classes to pass entrance exams, then the school may not be the right one. Sure, get her to do some practice papers (schools publish these) but choose a school that suits her and one where she can comfortably pass the entrance test.

I'm speaking of experience of a very academic independent school, where kids often struggle and need continued tutoring to keep up if they were heavily tutored to pass the entrance exam.

I would get Bond 11+ books or similar and let her go through them as I know there were topics that hadn't been taught at her school. NO need for tutoring as such-think it just puts more pressure on them. Know of one heavily tutored girl who broke down in exam.
