Preparing for entrance exams

Good morning,

I'm hoping someone can recommend some study books for my DD. We're moving from Australia to the UK next year and she'll be sitting a grammar school entrance exam for entry to Year 10 outside of the normal admission times as it'll be mid-year.

Are there any maths & english books I can buy to help her prepare for the test & the different syllabus?

The exams will vary from school to school so you might need to ask about specific schools.

Sleep I think the OP is looking for resources for year 10 entry not 11+.

At the superselective I work at in year admissions comprises an English paper - comprehension and creative writing, a one hour maths paper and a computerised nonverbal/verbal reasoning test that takes 45 minutes.

I would just look at the CGP maths book for KS3 to see whether you have covered everything and also if they have a year 9 entrance exam (old papers are usually online) that she can handle those.

whoops! didn't read the post properly. i'm afraid we have not gone through that set of exams x

Thank you for the replies. I'm going to order the CGP books online. Most helpful :)

Have you checked with the school? Some will do curriculum stuff such as science or languages? Are you prepared to say which school? Someone will know! (& of course, the CGP maths will almost certainly be useful).

Many schools will test everything for entry into yr10 - English, Maths, MFL, Science etc...
Have you chosen a specific school or just "aiming for grammar"?

Thank you everyone, I've checked with the school we're applying to and she would need to sit a maths paper and a conventional English paper which features reading and writing exercises.
