Ive been searching on mumsnet for details about secondary schools and ive found some great info about Bishops school and Christleton school. The info is about 7 years old though. Are these still regarded as very good schools based on your information on the ground so to speak.

Also i dont know Chester very well. Im still abroad. What about attending clubs after school etc. Are these schools in the middle of nowhere and the children will require a lift all the time?

if anyone could shed some light on this i would be very grateful. And if you have any insight on any other schools in the area.

Coming from abroad aswell we wont fall into the normal application time. Has anyone had any experience of looking for a place outside the standard times. I will be looking for year 4, year 5 and reception.

Thanks

Hi. Christleton is an excellent school. Great location, easy for cycling to school or public buses. I would definitely choose there over Bishops, which is only along the road. Marginally closer to the city centre. But nowhere near as good a school.

If you are looking for those age groups you may be better off posting on primary education not secondary as that is for years 7 and above

mnahmnah is quite right that Christleton High is much more highly regarded than Bishop's. It can be difficult to get into and you need to make sure you live as near as you can. Bishops's is a good school and probably the best of the rest after Christleton. If you live well in Christleton's catchment the junior schools are all good.
