I am thinking of moving to Exmouth and was wondering what it was like? Is Exmouth Community College alright? If you live in Exmouth where else can your child go to secondary school?

Thanks in advance

Huge! Its size means it can offer a more varied curriculum than other schools. Split site school. Went to look at it 9 years ago and took an instant dislike to the then Headteacher. Although we live just in its catchment, we decided to go elsewhere. However, there is a new Head now; I've heard mixed things about it under the new regime.

Alternatives: there are the private schools in Exeter - Exeter School (mixed) and Maynard (girls) plus the smaller ones like St Wilfrids. Some kids from Budleigh Salterton go to Kings in Ottery St Mary or Sidmouth College, both of which we liked. Or a number from Exmouth go to Colyton Grammar. I live nearer to Budleigh so I see school buses going to Colyton, Sidmouth and Kings from there as well as to Exmouth.

It is massive but they have good strategies in place so each year group has its own leadership team and the pastoral care is very good. The rage of subjects and qualifications offered is boggling, but doable die to numbers. I know both families and teachers there and all speak well of it.

You don't really have options without significant travel. Some get the train into Exeter but this would be to faith based places or private. Occasionally, in year spaces come up at King's in Ottery but you'd be highly unlikely to get a space in Yr 7. If v night, Colyton Grammar is a possibility but a distance to travel and stiff competition. Sidmouth also a possibility but travel challenging.

Exmouth is a great place to live with lots of amenities and beautiful countryside.
