Alternative schools.

I'm a single mum with an only child, a 10 year old daughter. I'm looking for a school where there is emphasis on good relationships, respect for the environment, creativity, practical skills, original thinking, music and academia. I'm not looking for academic hot-housing, but I am looking for a place where children have time to pursue their own interests to a high standard and in depth, where they are stimulated, given much encouragement and where pastoral care is also of utmost importance. I've been looking at the sites of some alternative schools, and it is hard to work out which ones a nice in idea only, and which ones actually deliver in terms of skills and confidence. The school does not have to be absolutely alternative, but it is important that there's an emphasis on originality and self-motivation. I welcome all thoughts. Many thanks.

It might help if you narrow down the location. Day pupil or boarding? Independent?

Bedales?

You don't say whether you want day or boarding or in which area.
